Short Story Proposal
Steve Whenner who returning to his home in Tacoma, Washington from a long geological expedition in a foreign country finds a stray dog living comfortably in his house. The dog looks extremely staved, but won't eat any of the food he offers it. He decides to take care of it the best he could, not knowing what its purpose really was. The dog reluctantly eats some chicken and then lays down next to the front door. Slightly puzzled, he returns to his bedroom, retiring for the night. He awakes about 4 minutes later due to the loud barking of the dog in the other room. Steve figured it was just the rain that was bothering it. Putting pillows on his head, trying to ignore the din coming from the other room. The barking stops and a banging sound replaces it. Jumping to his feet, not a bit sleepy due to the pounding of the rain and barking keeping him up, he runs to see the front door open, with water pouring into his lobby. He runs outside immediately. Wondering why he has such strong feelings for the creature he begins calling out for a dog that is already long gone.
