Noises
“Ring! Ring!”
The
disturbing noise echoed through my brain like a sonar echolocation. It
rattled my ears and my brain recoiled from the encounter. I shut my ears
to block the noise but for naught. The noise travelled through my hands
like light through a window. I couldn’t do anything about it. I
tentatively opened my eyes. Light flooded them and I winced. I felt the
warmth of my blanket and bed cover me while I contemplated where the
noise was coming from. I saw it the face of my tormenter: the ringing
device on the dresser. I fumbled as I stuck my leg out of the covers,
but recoiled because a breeze of subzero air struck my leg. I quickly put
my leg back in the covers and reviewed my situation. How I thought
to myself could I get to the device and disarm it without allowing
myself to feel the evil cold. My brain raced to find the solution as if I
thought the device would explode in the next 5 minutes. I reached out
quickly grabbed the device and pushed a couple buttons. The evil tool
stopped and I sighed relieved. I threw it on the ground and enveloped
myself in the warm covers of my bed. Suddenly, I was taken back to the
dream world and felt myself slip from consciousness.
Dozens of thoughts swirled through my mind as i fell into a trance. I felt as though I was trying to catch soap bubbles directing my attention to another fragment of my memory as they faded and i moved on to the next.
Approximately 25
minutes pass and then the same disturbance occurs.
“AAAARGHHH” I yelled indignation.
